The group of eight prisoners, including members of the Bali nine, have been executed by firing squad in Indonesia. They have become the latest victims in the unwinnable "war on drugs."
Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran (Australia), Rodrigo Gularte (Brazil), Martin Anderson (Nigeria/Ghana), Raheem Agbaje Salami (Nigeria), Sylvester Obiekwe Nwolise (Nigeria), Okwudili Oyatanze (Nigeria), Zainal Abidin bin Mgs Mahmud Badarudin (Indonesia) were executed just after 12.30 am local time on 29 April.
The group was shot by a 13-member firing squad while singing ‘Bless the Lord O My Soul’.
Amnesty International has issued a strong statement on the executions of the group, following its lengthy campaign to halt their deaths.
