Seven police officers were remanded on bail yesterday accused of a variety of offences arising from clashes with new-age travellers on their way to a music festival.
They were arrested after a Police Complaints Authority investigation into the treatment of people held during disturbances in Northwold Road, Clapton, east London, on 8 May, 1994. The officers were all based at nearby Stoke Newington police station and have been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case.
