A convicted paedophile killer who has moved to Brighton was being closely monitored by the police, it emerged last night.
Police and child protection groups issued a joint statement saying that Robert Oliver poses a "significant threat to the safety of young men and boys in the Brighton area". Detective Chief Inspector George Smith, of East Sussex police, said: "We are taking all the available steps to ensure the safety of the public."
Oliver, 43, was released last month after being jailed for 15 years for the sexual assault and manslaughter of 14-year-old Jason Swift in north London.
