The headquarters of New Labour's slick party machine is to get a touch of style, courtesy of Sir Terence Conran.

The restaurateur and design guru so impressed Tony Blair when he wowed delegates at the Anglo-French summit with a specially-created conference centre on the 38th floor of Canary Wharf in east London that Tony Blair, the Prime Minister, has turned to him again to help remodel Millbank Tower.

Labour yesterday confirmed that experts from Sir Terence's architecture company, CDP, were advising them on how to bring up to date the 1960s office block overlooking the Thames near the Houses of Parliament.
