The Princess of Wales's media adviser, Jane Atkinson, has quit her job just eight days after the Princess's divorce came before the courts. The announcement that the Princess has accepted her resignation, "due to the reduction in her work commitment", was made by Diana's office.

The statement went on: "The Princess of Wales has therefore decided there is no longer a requirement for an external media adviser."
