THE DEATH toll from tornadoes that tore through two Cuban towns on Sunday has risen to five, state media said yesterday.

Carmen Toyo, 78, died on Monday from injuries after winds of more than 190 mph (300 kph) raked Cruces, in the central province of Cienfuegos, late on Sunday. Her death followed four other fatalities in the west- central province of Matanzas, which was battered by a tornado on Saturday.
