THE YEAR 2000 should bring some relief from an unprecedented spate of powerful hurricanes that has plagued the Atlantic and Caribbean, according to long-range forecasts from a storm expert.
Hurricane expert William Gray said he expects the six-month 2000 Atlantic hurricane season to be a "moderate" one, with "just" 11 tropical storms, seven hurricanes and three intense hurricanes.
