TORRENTIAL RAIN brought widespread flooding to south Wales and Scotland yesterday.
Flood alerts were issued by the Environment Agency on the rivers Ogmore, Llynfi, Ewenny and Ely after 1.5 inches (37mm) of rain fell in just five hours. Across the west of Scotland, many roads were forced to close due to flooding. On the Isle of Arran, one of the areas worst hit by the flooding, Lamlash Fire Station was yesterday under three feet of water.
