HURRICANE SPECIALISTS in the United States have identified the 14th tropical storm of the season.

Tropical Storm Nicole started in the north-eastern Atlantic and yesterday was said to be strengthening and heading west.

Brian Jarvinen, a specialist at the National Hurricane Centre said last night there was still a risk that Nicole could graduate to hurricane status.
