THE BIG freeze gripping the United States has spread south into Mexico and has claimed the lives of 15 people in the country's northern state of Chihuahua. Temperatures have been rooted at minus 13C for the past week.
The duration of the cold spell is also worrying coffee growers in the central Puebla region where one of Mexico's main exports is particularly vulnerable to the freezing weather.
