THE UPMARKET holiday isle of Mauritius was warned to prepare for cyclone Davina as weather forecasters predicted the arrival of the storm today.

The cyclone is expected to bring 50 mph winds and heavy showers. The cyclone season for Mauritius lasts from November to mid-May with January and February the peak months. Cyclone Hollanda, which struck in February 1994, damaged sugar fields and the island's power grid.
