MOST ARE happy to see the arrival of spring and with it a welcome thaw of the winter snows but not people in St Petersburg, Russia's second- largest city, who are bracing themselves for the thawing of about 100 tonnes of effluent frozen in lumps since it leaked from a waste pit in December.
The effluent found its way into streams and ditches around the city and has been frozen during winter.
