THE AMERICAN Mid-west was swept by powerful storms yesterday, which destroyed homes and killed at least six people.

The Cincinnati area was particularly hard-hit. Entire neighbourhoods were destroyed as strong thunderstorms moved through the Ohio city. Roofs were torn off stores and the wind lifted a car from the ground and threw it against wall.
