TWO DAYS of torrential rains in Sri Lanka have left five people dead and thousands homeless, officials said yesterday.
Around 200,000 people had been displaced by floods and landslides, half of them in the Colombo district, and are being housed in temples, churches and schools until the rains subside. Parts of the southern gem town of Ratnapura were reported to be under six feet of water.
