UP TO 15,000 people in Papua New Guinea's Western Province face starvation after the worst floods in the area for 27 years, officials said.
Villages across the Lake Murray district between the Fly and Strickland Rivers have been destroyed by floods following months of heavy rain.
Inhabitants face increased risk of malaria, dysentery and diarrhoea. One child has died from pneumonia and a teenager has died from typhoid.
