A CYLCONE was last night heading for the coast of Gujerat, western India. State officials yesterday began evacuating thousands of people from coastal areas and asked officials in the coastal districts to remain alert.
The cyclone was about 119 miles south-west of the port of Okha in the Gulf of Kachchh, the Indian Meteorological Department said. Last June, the state was hit by a cyclone that killed more than 1,100 people.
