THREE PEOPLE have drowned after floods hit the south-central China province of Hunan following three days of torrential rain.
The flooding destroyed around 800 houses and left thousands of other buildings badly damaged, according to a spokesman for the provincial government. Around 300,000 hectares (750,000 acres) of crops were also damaged. The rainfall ended a drought in the southern part of the province.
