THE HYPE surrounding August's eclipse in Cornwall has backfired, it emerged last night. Fears of gridlock and inflated prices have meant that holiday bookings in the county have fallen to an all-time low.
Farmers who set up campsites to cope with hundreds of thousands of visitors have had no bookings, and hotel rooms remain empty for 11 August, the date of the first total eclipse on the UK mainland since 1927.
