SPAIN HAS recorded its lowest rainfall for half a century, devastating arable, sugar beet and livestock farming.
Environment Ministry figures showed the average rainfall in Spain between October and May stood at 370mm, the lowest since 1949. Average rainfall was about 650mm over the same period a year ago.
The Spanish government last week unveiled measures worth more than pounds 120m to help farmers through the drought.
