THOUSANDS OF people are being evacuated in Honduras after heavy rain forced officials to release water from the country's largest hydroelectric dam, aggravating a week of flooding that has killed eight people.
Honduras has been in a state of emergency since Saturday because the rains have marooned thousands of people, wrecked hundreds of homes and destroyed crops meant replace those wiped out by Hurricane Mitch a year ago.
