A FARMER has grown 100,000 pumpkins in an effort to head off a shortage for this year's Hallowe'en festivities.

Dennis Brunsden grew his huge crop near Taplow, Buckinghamshire, after fears for crops grew as the summer's grim weather prevented many pumpkin seeds from germinating. A farm spokesman said: "Other growers are reporting only 50 or 60 per cent yields. But we grow ours through black polythene ... it's done the trick."
