WINDS RIPPING through the north-western United States have killed one person and knocked out power at 300,000 homes and businesses.
Gusts of up to 89mph along the Washington coast moved inland and blew in the windows of a diner in Reno, Nevada. One customer who was in the Two Giraffes Bar and Grill said she thought a bomb had gone off.
