Servicemen and women claiming they are victims of Gulf war syndrome are to have their cases independently appraised by the Royal College of Physicians, Nicholas Soames, the defence minister, said yesterday.
Ministry of Defence assessments of Gulf veterans will also be made public in a letter to the British Medical Journal after 100 examinations have been made.
The condition, affecting more than 400 people, involves memory loss, swelling joints, fainting spells and panic attacks.
