Rival banks reject Abbey habit

RIVALS OF Abbey National bank said yesterday they would not introduce fees to customers who pay bills in their high street branches. Abbey National is to start charging its customers pounds 5 from 2 August to try to reduce queues. Barclays, NatWest, Lloyds, the Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland all rejected introducing such a fee.
