Road grants cut

The amount of grant from the Department of Transport to local authorities for road and other transport schemes has been reduced by 13 per cent for 1995/96. Local authorities will now receive pounds 960m compared with pounds 1,100m last year which will result in many local road schemes having to be shelved.
