Schoolboy dies after scuffle

A boy has died after a playground scuffle. Darren Carruthers, 16, from Springwell estate in Gateshead, was taken to hospital after banging his head on the ground during the dispute at Heworth Grange Comprehensive School on Tuesday. A 14-year-old youth has been arrested.
