Heritage: Britain 'fails to protect treasures'
Conservationists and archaeologists have urged the Government to sign The Hague convention on the protection of historical artefacts at times of war.
In a letter to The Independent, the Council for British Archaeology, the British Academy, the National Trust and others say the Government has failed to honour a pledge to ratify the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
