Soldiers mutiny
Unpaid soldiers mutinied in Congo-Zaire, forcing residents into their homes while other soldiers rushed in to stop the uprising. The fighting broke out late on Wednesday in Matadi, about 225 miles south-west of the capital. It was brought under control by soldiers sent in from Kinshasa, government officials said, but others said the fighting went on.
