Disney’s stock value got an unexpected boost of $2 billion yesterday after the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released.

Shares rose by 1% to $108.30 after the trailer was posted at 10am PST from around $107 before. They settled around a few cents above $107 in after hours trade.

The share jump is an indication of excitement among investors over Star Wars, which is a relatively new acquisition for Disney. Disney bought the rights to the franchise as part of its $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd in 2012. That now looks like a savvy move on the part of CEO Bob Iger.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas on 18 December, 2015.
