Stars go out as Hollywood stays away
Walking on water for a photo opportunity at the Cannes film festival promoting a new film, Priscilla - Queen of the Desert, starring Terence Stamp. The models with Stamp are transvestites who appear in the film. Hollywood is said to be snubbing Cannes this year. With a dearth of international stars, organisers are looking to Clint Eastwood, president of the jury, and his deputy, Catherine Deneuve,to rescue the event. Meanwhile Queen Margot, the story of the St Bartholomew's Day massacre of 1572, has opened to rave reviews.
