Jamie Acourt, 19, one of four men accused of the murder of the black teenager Stephen Lawrence, was discharged by a magistrate yesterday.

He, along with his brother Neil, 20, Luke Knight, 18, and David Norris, 19, all from south-east London, have been appearing at Belmarsh magistrates' court following only the fourth private prosecution for murder in 130 years.

The committal hearing against the other three men was adjourned to today. A ruling on whether they will face Crown Court murder charges is expected early next week.
