Prior: Players left frustrated by DRS inaccuracies

England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has admitted the players’ frustrations with the inaccuracies of the DRS system, with the current Ashes series beset by controversial decisions.

Yesterday’s action in the third Test at Old Trafford included Australia’s David Warner being given not out, despite evidence suggesting he had been caught behind. “There was disbelief because he hit it, and that’s why we referred it,” Prior, above, said. “We were adamant he had hit it and Snicko showed he had hit it. The decision didn’t go our way.

“It’s pretty frustrating for everyone. Whether the technology needs to be looked at, or how they use it, I don’t know. For the players at the moment, that is the biggest frustration.”

Australia ended day four on 172 for 7, a lead of 331 – although rain is forecast for today’s final day. MORE

Halsall earns bronze at worlds

Fran Halsall secured Great Britain’s first medal in the pool at the world championships in Barcelona. Halsall, 23, failed to get a medal in the 50m butterfly on Saturday but her time of 24.30 seconds was enough for bronze behind winner Ranomi Kromowidjojo.

Murray eager for hard court return

Huddersfield rout sorry Salford

Jermaine McGillvary and Jamie Cording both went over twice as Huddersfield thrashed Salford 46-4 to return to the top of Super League yesterday. The hosts led 28-0 at the interval and ran in eight tries in total as Salford wilted. MORE
