United crash out to holders Bayern

Bayern Munich progressed to the Champions League semi-finals after beating Manchester United 3-1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate. Patrice Evra put United 1-0 up but Bayern levelled through Mario Mandzuki, before Thomas Müller and Arjen Robben struck. MORE

Koke strike knocks Barcelona out

Atletico Madrid eased through to the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Barcelona, winning 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate. Koke scored for Atletico in the fifth minute and, although Barça went close with Neymar’s header, they failed to force an equaliser. MORE

Schürrle: Chelsea belief ‘is amazing’

André Schürrle praised Jose Mourinho’s ability to instill belief into the Chelsea players after they beat PSG 2-0 in their Champions League quarter-final second leg to overturn a 3-1 first-leg defeat. “It is amazing. I’ve never played in a team like that before,” said Schürrle. MORE

Allam to ‘fight on’ against FA snub

Hull City chairman Assem Allam said he will “fight on” against the FA’s decision to reject their application to change the name to Hull Tigers. There is no right of appeal to the FA, leaving him either to resubmit the application next season or legally challenge the FA ruling. MORE

FA wants blanket ban on betting

The FA has proposed that from next season anyone involved in the top eight tiers of the English league system will be banned from betting on any “football-related matter”. The FA Council has unanimously agreed the recommendation. MORE

Defending Masters champion Adam Scott hopes he can retain the Green Jacket, a feat only three have achieved. He said: “I’m sure more and more guys will, but at the moment it’s only a couple. I’d like to add my name to that list.” MORE
