Draw hands United chance for Cup revenge

Manchester City will face Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup, in the outstanding fixture set up by yesterday's draw. City and United are first and second in the Premier League. Their tie is a repeat of April's semi-final, which City won 1-0. Arsenal host Leeds United, a repeat of last year's third-round game. Bristol Rovers are rewarded for beating Totton with a trip to Aston Villa. Tottenham Hotspur and Everton host Cheltenham Town and Tamworth respectively.

O'Neill left with plenty to ponder

Wolves came from behind to snatch a crucial 2-1 win over Sunderland. Martin O'Neill could only look on from the stands as his new side missed a penalty and threw their lead away, Wolves striker Steven Fletcher netting a second-half double. MORE

Defences on top as Stoke grind out win

An early strike from Robert Huth was enough for Stoke to beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park for the first time in 30 years. Before the game, Everton had paid tribute to their former player Gary Speed by welcoming his father, Roger, on to the pitch. MORE

Miller strike sees Cardiff prevail

Kenny Miller's second-half strike ensured Cardiff beat 10-man Birmingham 1-0. The striker fired home in the 68th minute from seven yards out, five minutes after Curtis Davies had received a second yellow card for fouling Miller on the edge of the area. MORE

Nadal finds solace in Davis Cup win

Rafael Nadal ended his challenging year by striking the winning blow for Spain in the final of the Davis Cup. Nadal admitted his 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 victory over Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro was "one of the most emotional days of my career." MORE

Harlequins maintained their perfect start to the season with a 22-16 victory at Wasps. The result means that they have won all ten games this season, leaving them nine points clear at the top, with Saracens, who beat London Irish 15-11, chasing in second. MORE

McIlroy win sets up grand finale

Rory McIlroy shot a brilliant final round of 65 to claim victory at the Hong Kong Open. The win means that the Ulsterman still has a chance of overhauling Luke Donald in the Dubai World Championship – the season-ending finale, which starts on Thursday. MORE
