Clattenburg facing storm after 'innapropriate language' claim

Chelsea last night lodged a complaint to the Premier League over alleged "innapr-opriate language" used by referee Mark Clattenberg towards John Obi Mikel in yesterday's 3-2 loss to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Clattenburg was already at the centre of two controversial decisions involving Fernando Torres' dismissal and Javier Hernandez's apparent offside winner.

United took an early two-goal lead through a David Luiz own goal and Robin van Persie strike, but Chelsea found themselves level just as easily through Juan Mata and Ramires either side of half-time. Branislav Ivanovic was then sent off for a foul on Ashley Young as the winger sprinted to goal, before Torres was shown a second yellow for allegedly diving.

Hernandez's controversial winner, his third goal in six days, gave United their third league win in a row, taking them second. MORE

Wade and Varndell a bonus for Wasps

London Wasps claimed a try bonus-point as they beat London Welsh in the clubs' first meeting since 1979. Wingers Christian Wade and Tom Varndell each scored two tries, and head coach Dai Young said: "The wings made the difference." MORE
