A volunteer fire-fighter died in an Australian hospital yesterday, after he collapsed while extinguishing small fires left after a bushfire to the south of Sydney.
Phil Koperberg, New South Wales Rural Fire Services Commissioner, said yesterday that Peter Edward Estcourt, 20, died 14 hours after being airlifted to hospital. Estcourt was the third volunteer bushfire fighter to lose his life since a series of fires ravaged the NSW region a week ago.
