THE ROW over party funding was reignited yesterday when a select committee report by six Conservative MPs rejected all calls for reform, writes Colin Brown. Its findings were repudiated by the five Labour members.

The Tories on the Home Affairs Committee were accused by Labour of a whitewash after finding no evidence of 'sleaze' in Tory party funding. The Conservative MPs called for a code of practice but rejected curbs on foreign donations, limits on company donations and the disclosure of large donors to Tory party funds.
