Sam Chisholm, the satellite television chief, is to play a leading role in the New Millennium Experience.
Mr Chisholm, chief executive at British Sky Broadcasting, will become deputy chairman to BA chief Bob Ayling at the state-owned New Millennium Experience Company, which is responsible for putting together the pounds 750m project.
The 57-year-old will head an executive committee which will ensure that the Millennium Experience and the national programme proceed on time and to budget. Mr Chisholm, who plans to step down from heading the satellite broadcaster at the end of the year, will be joined on the new committee by fellow non-executive board member Michael Grade, NMEC chief executive Jennie Page and another member yet to be nominated. He will be unpaid.
