Thieves stole 1 million packets of chewing gum from a warehouse yesterday.

The gang broke into the storehouse in Castle Road, Sittingbourne, Kent, and loaded 12 pallets of Wrigley's gum on to a lorry before driving off.

Wrigley's had been planning to give away all 1 million packets, worth pounds 250,000, in a new year promotion.
