13m pounds in forged banknotes seized

A multi-million pound counterfeit money operation was closed down yesterday when police raided a printworks in Hackney, north-east London.

Four men were arrested in the middle of an alleged print run, thought to be worth pounds 6m. Counterfeit notes with a face value of pounds 13m were seized along with plates for pounds 50, pounds 20 and pounds 10 notes.

Equipment for producing fake dollars 50 bills was also found and detectives are now investigating the international connection.
