A footballer was ordered to pay pounds 2,500 compensation to another player whose jaw he broke during a match. Steve Williams, of Oakdale, Gwent, player-manager of Ebbw Vale, elbowed Andrew Mainwairing, of Llanidloes Town. He was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm at Swansea Crown Court and ordered to do 180 hours' community service.
