No passing glory: the only airworthy Lancaster bomber in Britain (there is one other, in Canada) took part in an air show at the former RAF base at North Weald, Essex, yesterday. The aircraft, with others from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, is expected to fly again today. It was on the night of 16 May that 19 Lancasters of 617 Squadron made the historic raid on Germany's Ruhr dams.
