Aids cases rise 60 per cent

The estimated number of people with Aids in the world has risen by 60 per cent in the past year, according to figures released yesterday by the World Health Organisation. The rise from an estimated 2.5 million last year to 4 million today has largely taken place in Africa but there has been an eight-fold increase in South-east Asia.
