Appeal for victims of famine
The British Red Cross yesterday launched a multi-million pound appeal to aid victims of the 'forgotten catastrophe' in Somalia, torn by famine and tribal war.
Its director general, Mike Whitlam, said 2 million people faced starvation in 'the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today'. He added: 'Thousands are dying daily in Mogadishu alone.'
