A couple whose six-month-old daughter died after having to wait three hours for treatment at University College Hospital, London, have damanded an inquiry. Prim and Michael Palmer of Islington, north London, say the hospital knew Chevaz - who was suffering gastroenteritis - was being brought in but it was one and a half hours before she was seen by doctor and a further one and a half hours before she was treated. The Patient's Charter says a baby must be seen by a consultant within half an hour of admission.

A hospital spokesman said an internal inquiry was under way.
