Maxine Davis, 30, threw her daughter, Tara Calnan, five months, into the river Nidd near Harrogate, North Yorkshire. She told police: 'I just tossed her in the river and all my troubles went with her.' A judge at Leeds Crown Court ordered that she be assessed at hospital after hearing she suffered from a personality problem. She denied murder but admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.
