Birds save worms

John Gummer, Secretary of State for the Environment, confirmed a ban under the Wildlife and Countryside Act on anglers digging for worms in the mudflats of Budle Bay in Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, Northumberland. Conservationists had argued that wading birds and wildfowl were being chased off their feeding grounds.
