Blast firm fined

Abottled gas company was fined pounds 100,000 for breaches of the Health and Safety Act which led to an explosion at its premises in Harlesden, north- west London. Knightsbridge Crown Court was told that steel canisters were thrown hundreds of yards by the force of the blast, a railway line was closed and dozens of houses were damaged. MB Gas Ltd admitted failing to ensure safety.
