A woman whose badly burnt body was found in an alley near the centre of Preston, Lancashire, was strangled before being set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence, police said last night. The body was unrecognisable, but police believe it could be Amanda Chapman, who had failed to arrive for work yesterday.
