THE British heavyweight boxing champion, Herbie Hide, attacked a former girlfriend after hurling a framed photograph of a male friend of hers at her bedroom wall, a court was told yesterday.
Michael Cole, for the prosecution, told magistrates at North Walsham, Norfolk, that Mr Hide, 22, had followed Deborah Edmonds home after spotting her driving near her home in Norfolk. When Mr Hide went into her bedroom and saw the picture of a man, he threw it at the wall, and then punched her in the face and back, Mr Cole alleged.
Mr Hide, of Romford, Essex, denies charges of causing actual bodily harm, stealing nearly pounds 500 worth of Miss Edmonds's clothing, and criminal damage. The hearing was adjourned until 20 December.
